About Me
My interest in becoming a doula began in the year 2000 when I was pregnant with my first child. I became fascinated with childbirth. I read every book and magazine and watched every video that I could get my hands on. I just couldn’t get enough. I became what is known as a “birth junkie” and felt that I had to be near pregnant women and birth. I took my doula training through DONA International in August of 2004 and attended my first birth as a doula in December 2004. It was an amazing experience and I knew that being a doula was my calling in life. I received my DONA certification in September 2005. I am available to attend births at any Baltimore and Annapolis area hospital and birth center. I am also available for homebirths in these areas as well. If there is any question about whether or not I can attend a birth in your area, just ask! In 2006 I became a Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Instructor and a Hypno-Doula. Group and private childbirth classes are available. Please contact me for more information. I have recently graduated with honors from the Baltimore School of Massage. My clients will soon reap the benefits of having a certified massage professional tend to them during the prenatal, perinatal and postpartum periods. Massage services will be available sometime in mid 2008. My Birthing Philosophy I believe childbirth is a very normal, natural part of a woman's life. A woman can achieve her childbirth goals when she is given the tools, the strength and the support of her family, friends and birth professionals. It is my goal to help women have the birth experience that they desire through informed choice, physical and emotional support.
